We stare up to the heavens
waiting for delivery
Both our feet tied to the ground,
our arms and feet tightly bound.

Claim for salvation
from the wrongdoings of your hands.
For some are faithful in their comfort
but are wicked in their land.

Where was your humanity
when your neighbor struggled?
Where were your fruits and your bread
when your neighbor starved?

Wrestle with your spirit
The heavens called your name
Can you hear how they begged?
Can you see it's not the same?

Where was your humanity
in their moments of distress?
Where was your compassion?
behind your words ever so lifeless

But now you cry
and your own weep
Now the door is closed
and the waters sips

It sips into your pain
like drops of vinegar on a wound
It sips and chokes your pride
the one you've fostered since your womb

Where is your humanity
and your strength and wisdom?
Is it lost in your pretty words
that drip drop from the top
with pieces of your kingdom?

Where is your humanity
your fortunes and your wealth?
Can they bid you back to sleep
can you trust them with their health?

Claim to the heavens
as they have shut their doors
Claim harder for delivery
let your tears wipe the floor.
